Sarah Laker heads up National Stationery Week rebrand

Indie stationery geek earns dream collaboration

Indie retailer and self-confessed stationery geek Sarah Laker is to bring her years of experience to the rebrand of National Stationery Week with organisers Ocean Media.

Since its launch in 2011 National Stationery Week has celebrated stationery in all its forms and campaigned to get more consumers into shops by encouraging people to put pen to paper – and, at Stationery Supplies in Marple and Wilmslow where she sells pens, pencils, paper and all the accoutrements along with greeting cards and gifts, Sarah has been an enthusiastic supporter.

The new collaboration for Monday to Sunday, 15-23 May, will see Sarah leading the charge to put a renewed focus on solidifying the bonds between retailers and the amazing stationery brands they stock, as well as the customers they serve

“It’s my favourite week of the year,” Sarah said. “I’ve taken part in it since the beginning, so I’m beyond delighted to be asked to spearhead this year’s National Stationery Week campaign.

“I’m scared as it’s a big challenge for me, but I’m also very excited and have a head bursting with ideas.”

National Stationery Week will see the return of daily hashtags to engage the end consumer – whether it be letter writing, journaling, or arts and crafts, the event will celebrate it, along with London Stationery Show, which takes place on the Tuesday and Wednesday,16-17 May, at the Business Design Centre in Islington.

Alex Butler, event director of London Stationery Show, said: “It’s one of the best weeks of the year for both stationery lovers and professionals. The industry’s only event dedicated to stationery also takes place so, while the consumer gets excited about current products, retailers will get a first look at the brand-new offerings from the biggest names at the show.”

As Sarah added: “I’ve got lots of ideas so follow us on social media and spread the stationery love!”
