Julie Dodsworth And Deva Designs Share Their Caring Ways

Giftwrap company Deva Designs shares more than just a licensing agreement with Julie Dodsworth (whose designs it reproduces on a range of gift dressings), as both parties are each doing their bit to re-purpose their products in the Covid-19 ‘war effort’.

Chester-based Deva Designs was approached to see if the company could help in the making of vital PPE for the local NHS asking if they had any ribbon or elasticated cord that could be used in the making of scrub bags and head bands for healthcare workers.

“We sent a load of our 15mm essential ribbon as well as lots of our Christmas elasticated cord, which we were delighted to be told were perfect for the job,” said Andrew Maddock, managing director of Deva Designs. “It’s only a tiny contribution, but every little helps. It also makes us feel that we are contributing, albeit in some small way. ”

Meanwhile, talented artist and entrepreneur Julie Dodsworth, whose distinctive artwork is licensed by Deva Designs for a collection of giftwrappings, has been ‘cleaning up’ and offering a ‘helping hand’ to needy causes in more ways than one.

The North Yorkshire-based British artisan designer, Julie, who runs the award-winning business with her daughter Beth publishing cards as well as making palm oil-free soaps, hand creams and candles in addition to licensing designs onto a host of other products has been busy donating free products (of hand creams, soaps and cards) to key frontline workers as well as making up packs for local food banks.

As part of its #thankyouforbeingawesome social media campaign, Julie and Beth have furnished their local community hospital in Ripon, the Harrogate homeless project, the city post office, local grocery store and local care homes with many parcels of well-deserved and much needed goodies.

“It’s been fantastic to be so busy and know we’re playing a positive role in the crisis,” says Beth. “It’s great to know our ‘thank you for being awesome’ message and boxes have reached so many of our key worker heroes,” adds Julie.
