Belly Button Designs Joins Forces To Mark Remembrance Day

Belly Button Designs is galvanising its ‘troops’ to help raise awareness of Remembrance Day (Sunday, November 11 marks 100 years since Armistice and the end of World War I) with activities both in the UK and Germany.

The Manchester-based publisher has created a special greeting card, featuring the Remembrance Day message ‘Lest we forget’ with printers Windles covering the cost of the production.

These cards are being put to good use in a number of ways. Firstly, building on its Thinking of You Week activities and connections with army bases in Germany (Charlotte Hamilton, one of Belly Button’s financial team is currently based there as her partner is in the forces), 200 of the cards have gone to the Army schools on three bases.

“The schools are using them to teach the children about Remembrance Day and what it means,” explains Rachel Hare, md of Belly Button Designs. “This includes writing a message to someone and placed on a memorial, used to put on graves of those lost and also for the parents to send to people who have lost a solider close to them,” she adds.

In addition, some of the cards are being sold at a charity event for SAAFA held at the base where Charlotte is located.

“We also gave some cards went to the padre. He is using them to send to the VIPs who are attending the Remembrance Day parade, VIPs from both the UK and German military and government,” added Charlotte.

Belly Button is also sending two dozen copies of the cards to around 30 of Belly Button’s special retail customers for them to sell and donate to charity.
