Publisher uses drawing that went viral to help charity loved by Queen Elizabeth II
A sweet drawing that went viral after the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has enabled Wrendale Designs to make a £15,000 donation to The Dogs Trust.
Hannah Dale, founder and creative maestro of Wrendale, drew the picture of Her Majesty, Prince Philip and a corgi sitting on a bench, and turned it into a limited-edition print with all profits going to the animal charity which held a special place in the Late Queen’s affections.
Hannah posted the drawing on social media with the message “A small tribute to our wonderful Queen who dedicated her life in service to our country. Rest in peace your Majesty” after her death was announced on 8 September.
Within hours the image had caught the imagination of the public, so far clocking up 1,200-plus shares and 14,000 likes on Facebook, 500 on Twitter, plus 9,847 likes on Instagram. Hannah commented: “We had such a lovely response to the piece of artwork that we posted in tribute to Her Majesty and there were lots of requests for the design to be made available as a print.”
It was then offered as a framed print or a framed card, for pre-order only during September, and this week Hannah and husband and business partner Jack announced they had raised £15,000.
“We’re delighted,” Hannah added. “It was very special to all of us here at Wrendale and we were so thrilled with the response to it.”
The Dogs Trust commented: “Your generous donation means we can continue providing the best possible care for the dogs who need us now more than ever.
“The money you have donated will assist us in achieving our mission to bring about the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction. Thank you again for your generosity, your support is hugely appreciated.”
