UKG Innovates With Plastic-free Pick and Mix Charity Multipack Concept

While retailers make the most of the last few days of this year’s crazy Christmas sales, UK Greetings’ Special Editions has just unveiled an innovative approach on the charity Christmas card front for 2021.

As its name suggests, Special Editions’ Pick and Mix concept allows consumers to select six of their favourite Christmas card designs from the ten that are displayed in a specially designed shipper to effectively curate up their own ‘multipack’. They also take a ‘sweetie style’ paper bag which contains six envelopes (that is also accommodated in the FSDU).

Seven charities are set to benefit from Pick and Mix with 10% of the £4.00 RRP being divided between Samaritans, Alzheimer’s Society, NSPCC, British Heart Foundation, RSPCA/Scottish SPCA and Marie Curie.

The environmental credentials have also been carefully considered, with no plastic involved at all, everything being fully recyclable, plus having been manufactured in the UK, it has minimal carbon footprint.

“We’re so excited by this range.  It’s showcasing the best of charity Christmas cards and sustainable British design and manufacture,” commented Katie Dilnot, business development manager of Special Editions. “It’s a real hybrid shopping opportunity and a game changer for multipack cards which allows customers to curate their own special selection.  I can’t wait to see it in stores,” she added.

The designs feature a variety of design styles and subject matters from the traditional festive scenes, fine art as well as contemporary illustration and typography.

The newly developed shipper, which clearly communicates which charities will benefit from the purchase as well as the recyclability comes complete and fully stocked. Each shipper contains 54 cards of each of the 10 designs on the shipper (540 cards in total).  There will be 90 packs of six envelopes (all in paper bags).

Retailers will be able to order the Pick and Mix units from January 2021.
