This weekend sees well-known independent sales agent Robin Hill as well as popular Cherry Orchard Publishing duo, Jackie Collins and Beverley Fisher put their best feet forward in the name of charity, all undertaking impressive physical challenges.
Robin Hill cannot quite believe it himself that he signed up to do The Lakeland 50, a gruelling 50 mile run from Penrith over the fells to Coniston.
“I have done this once before and it is tough,” admits Robin. He decided to take up the challenge to raise money for St Mary’s Hospice in Ulverston in memory of a friend who dies recently.
As part of his training, Robin says he has “been running between appointments” with his retail customers and claims he was up and out running every morning before the Harrogate show last week.
Meanwhile, following a long training period, Cherry Orchard’s md Jackie Collins (pictured top right) and the publisher’s product development manager Beverley Fisher (pictured top left) will be lacing up their walking boots to undertake the Three Peaks Challenge (involving conquering Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis) in aid of the WellChild charity.
“Since we signed up for this challenge way back in January – we’ve had many highs and a few lows along the way,” reveals Jackie. “Our first organised training walk was brutal to say the least for us both– it certainly wised us up as to the fitness levels we needed to achieve and as to how gruelling this challenge would be.
But we’ve both come a long way since then and are now full of excitement at the prospect of 5:45am Friday morning arriving for our journey North to Snowdon.”
