MP uses cards to take Oxfordshire pupil to palace in coronation challenge
A card for a king will earn one lucky youngster a trip to the Palace of Westminster thanks to North Oxfordshire MP Victoria Prentis who has launched a Coronation Card Competition.
Victoria has written to all primary and secondary schools across her constituency, inviting pupils to a come up with a design for the greeting card she intends sending to King Charles III to mark the 6 May event at Westminster Abbey.
“I’m looking for something really creative that encapsulates what we love about our area,” Victoria said: “The winning design will feature on the front of the card that I’ll be sending to our new King on behalf of local people.
“Very few people will recall the last coronation in 1953, I remember my parents speaking about how significant an event it was in their childhoods – street parties were held all over the country, as well as village fêtes, bonfires and services of commemoration.”
Victoria will be picking the winner who will be invited with their family to the Palace Of Westminster to have tea with her following the coronation.
Entries must be A4 and clearly marked with the child’s name, school, form, and age, then sent to Victoria Prentis MP, House Of Commons, London, SW1A 0AA by Monday, 17 April.
