Cardgains is right on target

Buying group’s 22-mile Ultimate Ullswater challenge hits £22,000 goal

Stepping out has put Cardgains right on target as the buying group’s Ultimate Ullswater charity challenge has now hit its £22,000 goal – but more donations will always be gratefully accepted!

“It was an epic year in 2022 for the challenge,” Cardgains marketing director Penny Shaw told PG Buzz. “For our 22nd event, we chose to walk 22 miles and set an ambitious fundraising target of £22,000 for our charity Alzheimer’s Society.

“But, with a fantastic fundraising effort from all participants, we have now passed our target – a huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, sponsored and supported through the event.”

It was back in June that 37 walkers from Cardgains, the industry, and family and friends – including Abacus Cards, Doodle Press, From The Heart, House of Cards, Hyve Group, Rainbow Designs, Sarunds, and Widdop And Co –  donned their walking books on a beautifully sunny day and set off for what sounded like a lovely stroll around Ullswater.

“But it certainly wasn’t!” Penny added, “it was uphill and down dale, through tricky terrain and some very steep climbs. However, the views of Ullswater were stunning and you have to get to the top to really appreciate the stunning Lake District scenery, and everyone completed the walk in magnificent style – some more magnificent than others.

“As always, we had an amazing celebratory meal hosted by Cardgains members Tanya Haandrikman and Sonya Haandrikman-Sibbald, directors of Celebrations in Carlisle, and once fed and watered many of the walkers were already asking what the challenge is for 2023. Watch this space!”

If anyone does want to boost this year’s fund-raising total, the Cardgains JustGiving page is still open.
