Successful fundraising means applications sought by 11 November
Industry charity The Light Fund is now open for applications for registered charity organisations whose beneficiaries are children, women or men.
And this year The Light Fund has over £300,000 to give to charity projects thanks to the very successful English Channel relay swim; raffles at events such as The Henries Awards, The Retas, The Greats and The Licensing Awards; the annual treasure hunt; and quiz nights.
Any organisation with a UK-registered charity number which works to benefit men, women or children in Britain or overseas is invited to submit proposals for specific projects, costing up to £5,000, that they would like to be considered for funding, which will be completed during 2023 – all applications must be made online here, and should be received by no later than Friday, 11 November.
The Light Fund chairman Trevor Jones told PG Buzz: “The UK greeting card and licensing industries should feel proud of themselves. In these troubling times, they have come together and raised a record amount of much-needed cash for The Light Fund this year.
“Everyone who has attended an event, been a sponsor, organised a fundraiser, undertaken a physical challenge or bought a raffle ticket has played their part in this landmark year.”
PG’s Jakki Brown is one of the founders of the charity and still a trustee, and the website is funded by Belly Button Designs.
Jakki added: “It’s truly wonderful that, thanks to the generosity of the greeting card community, through The Light Fund we can change the lives of thousands of people all over the world, less fortunate than ourselves. I urge everyone in the greeting card industry to get in touch with charities close to their heart and encourage them to submit an application for funding.”
Since its inception in 2004, The Light Fund has now raised more than £2million and funded well over 200 different projects for registered charities including RNLI, Young Minds, MND Association, Pancreatic Cancer, Mind, The Brain Tumour Charity, Orchid, Maggie’s, Nordoff Robbins, Challenge Africa, Hearing Dogs For The Deaf, Royal Free Hospital, WaterAid, Guide Dogs For The Blind, and Douglas Bader Foundation, along with numerous smaller local groups.
