New Film Brings GCA’s Thinking Of You Week To Life

The GCA’s Thinking of You Week (September 21-27) campaign is really coming to life this year. Not only is the card sending initiative being more widely embraced by all manner of retailers and publishers, but a wonderful mini film premieres today to help spread the message.

The quirky ‘How to say Thinking of You’ film, commissioned by the GCA and made by the talented Lanther Black duo (Dominique Miranda and Jack Parker), shows that while building a Psychic Thought Transmitter is one way of showing you care, it is not as reliable or as effective as sending a card!

Having been launched to the greeting card community this morning, the film will be shared via social media from this coming Sunday, to coincide with the start of PR consumer activity that will run until the end of the TOYW.

“The film is a fabulous way of us being able to get the message out to the consumer as well as within the greeting card community about Thinking of You Week and reminding everyone how the sending of a card is the best way of showing you care,” states Amanda Fergusson, ceo of the GCA.

Explaining about the creation of the film, Lanther Black’s Dominique Miranda (who played the ‘leading lady role’ in order to overcome social distancing issues) told PG Buzz: “We wanted to make a fun film highlighting a few ways that you might be able to let someone know that you’re thinking of them. It’s always tempting to pick up the phone, but these days, when our phones are constantly buzzing, it can just seem like just another noise in the crowd, another thing to reply to, another item on a to-do list. But that’s never the case with a greeting card. It’s something that’s so special to receive, so personal… and far less dangerous than a Psychic Thought Transmitter!!”

She revealed that the film was shot over the course of three days, on location in the pretty little village of Writtle in rural Essex. “The greatest challenge we had was placating the local ducks who all thought it was time for their five minutes of fame!”

The GCA is encouraging everyone in the card trade to share the film though their social media channels in the run up to Thinking of You Week.

“It is great that so many retailers and publishers have already firmed up on their plans for the Week, but there is still time for everyone to get involved!” says Amanda.

Asda, Sainsbury’s, Cardzone, Card Factory, Paperchase and House of Cards are among the retailers who have planned their activity while on the publisher side, UKG, Hallmark, Carte Blanche, Corniche and Cherry Orchard are among those to have shared their plans.

There is also a draft press release for anyone wanting to contact local, or national, media to promote their business’ activity on this front.

“And please let us know what you are planning on doing during Thinking of You Week, and include some pictures, and we’ll add it to our News section. Also, do also please keep sending in your cards to our Gallery section (https://www.thinkingofyouweek.cards/gallery/ ),” urges Amanda.
