Paperchasers Embrace The Love Of Lists As Stationery Week Kicks Off

The nation mobbed Twitter and Facebook yesterday (April 29) in a lovefest of stationery, marking a stonking start to #NationalStationeryWeek. Showing how the virtual and very tangible can work together, social media channels were so busy with activity in celebration of stationery products that the campaign trended across Twitter three times during the first day of Stationery Week – a position earned by over 2,600 tweets being sent.

On the opening day of the campaign #NationalStationeryWeek, #natstatweek and #WritingMatters ranked first, second and third in the list of UK trends yesterday (April 29) which is astonishing given all that is going on in the world.

The campaign, has overflowed onto Facebook and Instagram too, with the later seeing over 2,000 uses of the hashtag #NationalStationeryWeek in the last week alone.

As a key sponsor of #NationalStationeryWeek this year, Paperchase has been instrumental in raising awareness, tapping into one of the nation’s popular reasons to use stationery – to write lists!

Its peppy enewsletter to Paperchase fans yesterday invited stationery lovers to share their photos of their lists on its Instagram and Twitter feeds and is also offering a 10% discount for anyone to confesses “I love lists” in its stores or uses an ‘Ilovelists’ code when placing an order online for the duration of National Stationery Week.

National Stationery Week was born out of the Stationery Show trade exhibition which takes place today and tomorrow (May 1) at the Business Design Centre. The Stationery Week activity is being steered by PR company Smallman Media (on behalf of Ocean Media, owner of the Stationery Show and National Stationery Week).

National Stationery Week runs until 5 May 2019 with this coming Saturday (4 May) being hailed as #StationeryShopSaturday, a day to celebrate all stores, especially indies, that sell stationery in the UK.

This special Saturday activity is being  driven by self-confessed greeting card and stationery passionista, indie retailer Sarah Laker, owner of Marple Stationery Supplies. https://www.pgbuzz.net/indie-card-retailer-marple-stationery-supplies-spearheads-stationeryshopsaturday/

She is urging all independent stationery stockists, whether card retailers, giftshops or stationery specialists to get involved.

“This is a great opportunity for us to encourage the public to visit their local indie who sells stationery, treat themselves to a new notebook and pen, write a letter or a card and celebrate the wonderful products and the act of writing. Retailers should ask their customers to post on social media where they like to buy their stationery and what they have bought,” Sarah told PG Buzz.

Ryman and Derwent Art are also sponsors of National Stationery Week. Find out more about the campaign by visiting www.nationalstationeryweek.com

National Stationery Week runs from 29 April – 5 May and is sponsored by Derwent, Ryman, Paperchase and Marple Stationery Supplies.
