A BBC Programme To Champion Christmas Card Sending

There is some high profile positive TV coverage for the UK greeting card industry in the offing if retailers and publishers can point a television production company in the right direction of real examples of how Christmas card sending has brought benefits to people’s lives.

Hope MacDonald of Hungry Gap Productions contacted Progressive Greetings and the Greeting Card Association in connection to a TV series the company is making for BBC One focused on Christmas.

Sharing her a mission, Hope told PG Buzz: “As part of the series we are looking for heartwarming stories about how people celebrate Christmas and are hoping for a story about Christmas cards and what they mean to us at this time of year.”

She is on the search for real life examples of “how Christmas cards have brought people together, been collected or anything along those lines.”

As Sharon Little, ceo of the GCA pointed out, “I am sure that with the industry’s wide reach, of artists, publishers, retailers and suppliers there must be some wonderful stories which demonstrate the true value of sending and receiving Christmas cards. Maybe it is a relative, maybe it is a customer – or maybe it is you. Tell your tale!”

In its official flyer for the show, Hungry Gap asks: ‘Do you love Christmas? Is there a Christmas card that has a special memory for you? Have you been collecting Christmas cards since you were young? If you have a great Christmas card collection or story to tell, the producers of the series would love to speak to you!’

The production company is looking for fun and outgoing people who are passionate about all things Christmas as part of the new show for BBC One. If you would be interested in sharing your story and taking part of the programme, get in touch  with Hope MacDonald by emailing her on hope@hungrygapproductions.co.uk for more information.
