Some 10% of the Jaab’s gross profit is donated to a breast cancer outreach project which provides breast cancer education, screening and treatment to under-privileged women in Thailand though the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Judith’s story is a very personal one, having lost her mother to breast cancer when she was a teenager and her mother was only 42 years old.

Judith founded Jaab Cards in 2004, to offer beautifual cards that are handmade by women in Bangkok. Judith explains how Jaab Cards works: “Our staff come to Bangkok from a rather harsh village existence looking for opportunities to improve their lives. We offer them training and full-time employment with fair trade terms, social security benefits and more. We provide a safe and nurturing family environment filled with laughter and non-stop chatter. People say our cards are magical. I can’t help but agree and firmly believe that it is the women of Jaab (pictured top whilst hard at work) who put the magic in our cards.”

She continues: “My work is my therapy and my joy. We have a fabulous team and even better customers who span the globe. Because of Jaab and Bijou, I am able to contribute to a very worthy Breast Cancer Outreach Project that helps educate, screen and treat underprivileged women. It’s brilliant that I can use my creativity to honour the memory of my mother, who was taken from us when she was only 42 years old.”

The Jaab cards have a different feel to those of Bijou.

The new range of Bijou Cards, which are printed in the UK, are influenced by the world of fashion. They are meticulously printed, embossed, foiled, glittered and die-cut on 300gsm luxury Italian textured uncoated art board. They are blank inside and come with a metallic envelope.

Three ranges from Bijou Cards will launch at Top Drawer on 14-16 January at stand ZA55.
