Janie Wilson takes its Gold Leaf brand into candles

Janie Wilson is not someone who does things by half. Not only has the plucky publisher diversified from greeting cards into candles, but the company is producing them onsite at its Yorkshire premises.

Janie Wilson, owner of the eponymous card company admitted that its venture into candles, which launched at Harrogate Home & Gift, represented a “significant commitment” not just financially, but in time in learning the art of candle making.

The inaugural Janie Wilson candle range, which was a huge hit at the recent Home & Gift show, comprises 18 tins and 10 jars, the livery of which echoes the publisher’s popular Gold Leaf card range.

“Just as we produce all our cards ourselves I wanted us to make the candles ourselves, which meant we had to learn about fragrances, how different wicks are needed for different fragrances and the conditions which are crucial when hand-pouring wax,” said Janie (pictured above next to the candles on the company’s stand at Harrogate Home & Gift).

The inaugural range features 10 different fragrances (which are added at a high potency) and the tins cover different sending occasions while the jars are suited as gifts or self-purchase. RRPs £9.99 for the tins and £14.99 for the jars.
