Mark Rawson earns retirement card

Gould Paper Sales’ greetings expert steps down after 40 years

A four-decade tenure in the greetings industry is coming to an end with the news that Mark Rawson is to retire from Gould Paper Sales.

After more than 40 years with the UK greeting card division of the US-based business that supplies many publishers, Mark will receive his own happy retirement card at the end of May.

“Having given us such great service over such a length of time, he leaves with our wholehearted blessing,” Gould Paper Sales md Nick Henry said.

“Over the years Mark has become a bit of an expert in terms of this sector, and his knowledge is busily being penned down in a big pad and a large folder!”

The greetings team is to be strengthened with the full-time arrival of Annie Maiden, who has been working with Nick in the company’s book division for over 20 years, and she’ll be shadowing Mark for the next couple of months.

Nick added: “We’ll continue to offer customers all the products they are currently supplied, with the excellent levels of service we pride ourselves on. Liz Pickett continues to lead the team internally, and I will look to spend even more time working with both our supplying mills and our customer base.”

The company was founded in America in 1924 by Harry E Gould Snr as a printing paper merchant primarily for the greeting card industry, and Gould Paper Sales is the UK publishing papers division of Gould International UK and Ovol Japan Pulp & Paper. It has long been a supporter of the UK greeting card industry, including as one of the stalwart sponsors of The Henries greeting card awards.
