What’s Hot in Wishes of Cockermouth?

Wishes is a medium-sized specialist card shop in the Cumbrian market town of Cockermouth which has built up a loyal local customer following.

Victoria Robinson, who co-owns the shop with her mum Fiona, says that like so many other indies is “taking things day by day and learning this new role of “customer management”. As retailers it’s a difficult fine line,” she says of ensuring customers and staff safety. But that does not get in the way of ensuring a fabulous selection of products.

Here, Victoria shares some of the store’s best sellers…

Everyday Birthday

Words of Wisdom from Dandelion Stationery

“Having had a few small orders from this range in the past, we bought a spinner full of a mix of different titles at Spring Fair and in such a short time (more so because of lockdown) it has become a destination spinner with our customers.”

Jumbo Jamboree from Paper Salad

“Customers like the larger size option and bright colours, and of course Paper Salad’s beautiful envelopes!”

Male Birthday

Geo from UK Greetings

“A very popular range for men without featuring the usual hobbies/interests. We reorder the range again and again. The cards are a great size, price point and just hits the spot for an open male birthday send.”

Positivity

Piano from Hammond Gower

“Eye-catching postcards with messages of friendship and support. In the run up to lockdown customers bought them in handfuls to ‘have in’. Now we’re still selling them as the perfect ‘just because’ send.”
