Online greeting card company, Thortful is to offer Valentine’s Day cards which cater for those who have been recently bereaved.
Recognising the deep sorrow that the recently bereaved invariably feel Thortful decided to try and spread the love by offering some Valentine’s Day designs that could be sent to offer some support to a friend or family member who are grieving from the loss of a loved one.
Thortful instigated a competition to the 17,000 creatives who are connected to the One Minute Briefs platform to come up with designs for this sensitive send.
As the brief to the One Minute Briefs members was that “some people who have lost loved ones might find Valentine’s Day particularly hard. Sending a card shows someone you care and acknowledge the difficult time they’re going through,” said Louise Rowands, the PR and digital marketing manager for Thortful. The brief asked designers to create a card design that ‘could be bought for a friend or family member who had recently (or perhaps not-so-recently) been bereaved, and so wouldn’t have a person to send a card to or anyone to receive a card from.’
A whole stream of ideas flooded in via OneMinuteBriefs’ Twitter channel, using the handle #bereavedvalentines, including @thortful.
The Thortful team have selected three designs which are to be offered as greeting cards and sold on thortful.com. The creators will receive a royalty for each card sold featuring their design. The overall winner will also receive a £50 prize and a year’s supply of cards from thortful.com.
The Daily Mirror was among the media to have picked up on this Thortful initiative, applauding the company for confronting this difficult situation may people find themselves in.
