Roya Peeroozee joins Tish Bas in Tesco’s Paperchase brand team
There are some notable changes on the multiples card-retailing front within the Tesco and Cardzone buying teams.
Having joined the Cardzone team in July in a newly-created role of head of buying, Sam Ody has taken the decision to leave the family-owned business for personal reasons.

Following a 16-year stint working for Tesco, including over four years as senior category buying manager for everyday cards and giftwrap, Sam joined the specialist multiple at a pivotal time in its development, which has involved integrating the Clintons business that the company acquired in March last year.
Saying “we wish her all the best for the future,” Cardzone CEO Paul Taylor said he fully respects Sam’s decision to leave and, commenting on the retailer’s card buying responsibilities, added: “For the time being Sally Wyles and I will pick up the greeting card element which, to be honest, I have missed!!”

Meanwhile at Tesco, the Paperchase team is being bolstered with Roya Peeroozee promoted from assistant buyer for seasonal cards to support Tish Bas, lead buying manager for the brand along with fashion stationery at the grocery giant.
Roya has been with Tesco for over five years and commented: “I’m super excited to start on Monday – it’s a fab brand and opportunity so I can’t wait!”
While Tish is relatively new to Tesco, only having joined four months ago, she is certainly no stranger to Paperchase, having spent 12 years on the buying and product development side at the now-defunct specialist retailer.
Having taken some time out following the final Paperchase administration, she worked with her husband who designs luxury yachts, getting involved in their interior styling, and Tish said the approach to join the Tesco team came at the right time.

“I love my husband, but realised I couldn’t work with him,” she laughed, “having the opportunity to be involved once again in bringing what was so great about Paperchase to the Tesco customer was too good an opportunity to miss out on.”
It is now just over a year since the Paperchase brand debuted in 120 Tesco stores on a range of greetings and stationery products and Tish, Roya and the team, including buying and merchandising manager Ross Lasseter, are now focused on the continuous innovation and development of its products across these ranges as well as other areas.
