Rounding up stray Retas Awards entries

Deadline for nominations is Tuesday, 15 April – lasso yourself a trophy!

The PG cowboys are rounding up the last of the stray retailers who haven’t yet got their entries in for The Retas Awards 2025, as the closing date of Tuesday 15 April is on the horizon.

Plenty of fabulous greeting card retailers have already jumped in the saddle and roped up ready to lasso one of the much sought-after trophies, but you’re all worthy of a sheriff’s star so mosey on down to complete the nomination form here or send your details through to jakkib@max-publishing.co.uk.

There’s a fun country and western theme for this year’s 20th annual Retas event so it’ll be cowboy boots, twanging guitars, Stetsons, and do-si-doing thanks to the generous sponsors, who include Abacus, The Art File, Belly Button Designs, Cath Tate Cards, Danilo, GBCC, Hallmark,  IC&G, Ohh Deer, Ling Design, Museums & Galleries, Paper Salad, Paperlink, Pigment, Progressive Greetings Live, Rosie Made A Thing, Sensations, UK Greetings, W Select, and Woodmansterne.

“We’ve had a lovely lot of nominations entries already,” said Jakki Brown, MD of Max Publishing which owns and runs The Retas Awards, Progressive Greetings magazine, and PG Buzz, “but we’d love to hear from even more of our fabulous retailers – be brave and nominate yourself, you’re definitely worth it!

“With all the challenges in the UK as well as around the world, it’s so important to be able to recognise and celebrate the good things in our lives, both on a personal and business front and The Retas very much form part of that,”

Now in their 20th year, the awards shine the spotlight not only the best independent and multiple specialist greeting card retailers regionally and nationally, but also on the multifarious non-specialist stores that stock cards, as well as retail employees who have gone the extra mile.

To make sure every type of greeting card retailer is covered, there are 22 categories from the newcomers and geographical area awards for indies, to non-specialists, multiples, bookstores, garden centres, wholesaler and supermarkets, along with the Best Greeting Card Retailer Initiative, as well as the overall Retailer Of The Year which is chosen from the other winners.

Once all the nominations and entries have been received by the deadline on Tuesday, 15 April, the finalists’ line-up for each category will be released at the start of May, ready for the big reveal of the winners on 3 July, when industry folk will be kicking up their heels at the country and western-themed bash at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

This afternoon celebration of networking and meeting friends will include a cocktail reception, sumptuous lunch, raffle in aid of industry charity The Light Fund, and The Retas awards ceremony.

Single tickets are £230+VAT, with tables available, and for enquiries and bookings, please contact The Retas ticket office Createvents, on 0118 334 0085 or clare@createvents.co.uk or you can book via www.max-tickets.net.
