It’s a busy couple for weeks for the Paper Salad team with important meetings in London, trips to New York and finishing sparkly new designs for PG Live. Jess Hadfield, in-house designer of the Manchester-based publisher, sums up the last week.
Monday
The day started with everyone being in full ‘let’s go’ mode! I was finishing off designs in the studio, Karen Wilson (co-founder) had an important meeting down in London with John Lewis, we had three pallets to get ready for Hallmark and Jack Wilson, our newest Paper Salad recruit, was busy getting to know everything that makes us sparkle in the office. Karen’s meeting went well and we’re now deep in discussions about designing a gorgeous bespoke range for John Lewis. Obviously this required a well-deserved drink on the way home.
Tuesday
Today everyone is back in the office apart from Claire Williams (co-founder) who is having a well-deserved break sunning herself on holiday. We received a very colourful delivery of our proofs, which we’ve fallen in love with and they don’t even have the sparkly flitter on yet! We’ve been working really hard on designing a lovely new collection of female birthday cards to add on to our best-selling Gold Dust range.
Wednesday
After seeing the new cards we thought it was only right to create a gorgeous new bespoke envelope to match. One of the things we are known for is our colourful patterned envelopes. We have been crazy busy these past few months so everything is being left to the last minute. It’s a good job we have wonderful suppliers who can turn jobs around for us quickly. We’re hoping to launch these new envelopes at our favourite trade show PG Live!
Thursday
Today was another trip out for Karen and Jack who had a meeting down at Waitrose. It was great to catch up with fellow publishers such as Laura Darrington and introduce Jack to other aspects of the greetings industry. Everything was running shipshape back at Paper Salad HQ, with a number of orders being sent out for Paperchase and Waterstones. I started on our new male range Oh Boy which is going to be a shiny copper delight.
Friday
What a week! Claire is back and is busy catching up on what’s been going on and we had a bright and sparkly delivery of new super cute mini cards and social stationery. We will be launching these at PG Live along with lots of other lovely new designs. Next week Karen and Claire are off to the Big Apple to visit the National Stationery exhibition in New York and to say hello to our American distributors. There’s never a dull week here at Paper Salad!
