Into the future with Loxleys

Website refresh and Instagram page takes 170-year-old print specialist forward

Greeting card print specialist Loxleys is making the process easier for designers with a revamped website just in time for the launch of the company’s 170th anniversary celebrations.

Showing just how the longstanding Sheffield business is keeping up with the times, the primary aim of the redesign has been to make the website easy to navigate and provide designers and publishers with guidance on how to take their order to print.

Heather Bull, marketing co-ordinator, said: “We’ve been working hard to update our branding and communication style across the business, the website is a huge opportunity for us to connect with our customers and peers and share updates, advice and communicate our values.”

The highlights include an overview of the services available, a gallery of card styles and finishes, advice on eco-friendly production, and info and support for new publishers.

She said the team at Loxleys welcomes any feedback on the update and hope it will become a valuable resource for both new and existing customers.

Loxleys, which prints over 100million greeting cards a year on its high-volume litho machines as well as the digital side for smaller runs, is also embracing social media, using its Instagram page to give advice such as the reel that can be seen below, as well as offering webinars on the print process.

The business was established in 1854 by brothers Edward and William Loxley as a stationery shop and bookbinders in the centre of Sheffield with a printing press in the back room, before moving to its current premises in Kiln Street in 1920 – which was originally built as a Victorian roller-skating rink.

Having printed its first greeting card in 1980, the company has transitioned into a specialist manufacturer, focusing solely on cards and, in 2022, MD Tony Lorriman, production director Gary McCrorie, pre-production director Paul Brookes, and operations director Gary Anderson completed a management buy-out of the business.

Having marked its 170th birthday at PG Live in the summer by sponsoring the drinks party and also co-hosting a GCA Local event, longtime Henries sponsor Loxleys is now busy getting the official anniversary celebrations underway.
