I Drew This Is Streets Ahead In Brighton

Ilona Drew, the founder of I Drew This greeting card company is seeing her artwork reach great heights in her home city of Brighton.

Ilona was commissioned to create the massive street banners as part of the Brilliant Brighton initiative, the name given to the Brighton BID (Business Improvement District) which is certainly brightening up a sizeable area of the seaside city until 2021.

“The brief was just ‘ COLOUR’ which is right up my street!” said Ilona of the summer banners that are now dressing the city. “I’ve really enjoyed exploring all the things I love about Brighton and going crazy with bold images and colours to create the banners,” added Ilona.

Well known for her colourful award winning landmark prints, including Brighton Pavilion, Palace Pier and Brighton Bandstand, Ilona was the perfect artist to undertake this giant task. “I think I might pop seeing them hanging above the city streets this summer!”

Ilona, who has lived in Brighton for the last 13 years, said that she feels “so proud to have my work brightening up the streets, especially when my daughter is walking under them in the sunshine and for Pride which can never have enough colour!”

Ilona is also going to be selling merchandise using the colourful designs, greeting cards, coasters, magnets, tea towels, prints and finally a one off original glitter ball original painting through her stockist Present in the Laine, a boutique in Brighton’s North Laine.
