Extra sweetness for Mother’s Day

Tatty Teddy serves up a very tasty new licensing deal with hand-iced biscuit

Tatty Teddy is serving up extra sweetness for Mother’s Day as Carte Blanche Greetings’ iconic cute character has a tasty new licensing deal.

The blue-nosed ted has jumped off his usual greeting cards to partner with luxury biscuit maker Molly’s Bakehouse for a special Limited Edition Mother’s Day Tatty Teddy hand-iced biscuit, with each one made fresh to order and available online at £12.95 to be posted in time for the celebration of mums on Sunday, 30 May.

In a deal brokered by Bulldog Licensing, the licensing agent for CBG’s Me To You brand and its signature character Tatty Teddy, the ted-shaped biscuit is presented in a Molly’s Bakehouse Gift Box with a Limited Edition Tatty Teddy sleeve and features the message Best Mum Ever.

Molly Backhouse started Molly’s Bakehouse during lockdown while working in a psychiatric hospital, where she saw firsthand the impact of thoughtful gestures on patients’ well-being so began making home-made affirmation biscuit treats with positive iced messages.

She said: “We believe the most meaningful gifts are the ones that come from the heart – thoughtful and beautifully created to bring joy and spread positivity. That’s why we’re so excited to collaborate with Me To You, a brand that has been helping people show love, gratitude, and heartfelt moments for over 30 years.”

Today the whole process, from baking to decorating and delivery, is managed by a small and dedicated team, and this is the first brand partner for Molly.

With an appeal across both children and adults, Tatty Teddy now extends well beyond its original incarnation over 30 years ago as a greeting card illustration, with licensed product including daywear and nightwear, accessories, gifting, pins and patches and crafting kits, achieving around £155million ($200m) in retail sales value each year.

Bulldog licensing director Vicky Miller said: “Tatty Teddy is already one of the most popular character brands on the market, with a strong and enduring family appeal that is perfectly suited to both Mother’s Day and beautiful, tasty, hand-iced biscuits, both of which Molly’s Bakehouse highlights in this wonderful – and wonderfully presented – Me To You Mother’s Day gift box.”
