BIRA boards love train

Valentine’s Day free campaign kit launched for all indie retailers

BIRA is getting aboard the love train with the release of the retailer association’s free Valentine’s Day campaign kit for any shop wanting to join in.

The British Independent Retailers’ Association, which works with over 6,000 indie businesses of all sizes across the UK, launched its Show Some Love campaign yesterday, Thursday, 19 January, offering a downloadable bundle of resources and information to everyone – and you don’t have to be a BIRA member to participate.

The association aims to encourage indie retailers across the country to get involved and capitalise on the first seasonal event in the 2023 calendar by encouraging people to shop local, both in-store and online.

“We’ve known that 2023 is going to be a tough year,” BIRA ceo Andrew Goodacre said, “which is why we want to offer extra support to our indies. Valentine’s Day is our first important date for retailers on the new year’s calendar, so this campaign will help support them market themselves more effectively than ever.”

The campaign kit, which can be accessed here, includes an A4 post in full colour or black and white to put in show windows, matching A5 flyers to distribute as preferred – they can be put on counters, in store, or even in shopping bags with each sale – a free Valentine’s Day: Ways To Market To Your Customers guide, and social media assets including videos for stories and reels, along with images for posts.

The campaign will be further supported by BIRA with the tag #BiraShowSomeLove which shops are encouraged to include to boost social media reach and coverage in their area, and the association will also share and mention businesses itself.
