Thortful makes a song and dance over 15,000 babies born each September
Big birthday energy is taking over at online greetings marketplace Thortful this month as September has eight of the UK’s 10 most popular birth dates – so there’s a party planned!
Thortful is taking over the popular public Potters Fields Park by London’s Tower Bridge this Thursday, 21 September, for a Big Birthday Energy Parade to make sure everyone celebrating has a real song and dance.

Having carried out previous research Thortful discovered Christmas sex leads to an average of 15,000 babies being conceived due to getting jolly around the festive season, with the eight most popular birthdays in September and the other two in early October, according to data from the Office For National Statistics.
“As there’s so many birthdays flying about,” the Thortful team said, “it’s possible that anyone born during this time might end up feeling like they have to share the spotlight. Now, this doesn’t seem fair to us, and we believe everyone should be able to celebrate their birthday as the main character they are.
“This is where the team at Thortful step in! We’re actually taking over a public space near Tower Bridge for the day to celebrate some of our brilliant customers’ birthdays – let’s just say we’re going to make a real song and dance about them.”

Thortful customers were asked to nominate a friend or family member and six were randomly selected from the entries to be surprise guests at the big celebration.
The party starts at noon on Thursday and, on the guests’ arrival on the red carpet at the park, a marching band will appear playing birthday jingles, along with a giant screen displaying personal messages and photos, followed by ribbon dancers and a perky team of well-wishers will follow closely behind, and each guest will receive a big card, bottle of champagne, and gift voucher.
Thortful said: “Ultimately, the aim is for London to realise just how wonderful this person is and come together in order to celebrate their birthday. A whole crowd singing happy birthday to you at your very own birthday song and dance, we don’t think you can get much bigger than that.”

Thortful’s PR stunt echoes work the GCA has been doing on the industry’s front as part of its #Cardmitment activity to promote card sending, with PG Buzz covering the news of the association’s press release issued at the end of August to the media highlighting that September is the busiest month for birthdays.
