Raising the profile of cards with sub-postmasters

The Federation of SubPostmasters to work with GCA to promote card sending

GCA logoThe GCA’s ceo Sharon Little has met with top executives of the National Federation of SubPostmasters (NFSP) to talk about how it can get involved with more GCA initiatives. Part of NFSP’s new Retail Engagement Team’s mission is to offer help and support to independent sub-postmasters to develop their business and diversify their incomes streams, with greeting cards seen as a huge opportunity and a natural product for them to grow.

As David Gold, retail consultant on the NFSP Retail Engagement team told PGBuzz: “Greeting cards are ideal products for sub-post offices to stock, but so many of our 9,500 independent members are not fully aware of the potential they offer. Through working with the GCA we are able to better advise and inspire our members to improve their greeting card offer.”

Recognising the value to the greeting card industry, Sharon pointed out: “It is fantastic to have NFSP as an ally in our mission to promote greeting card sending. We’re committed to working together to help independent post offices sell more cards and stay at the centre of their communities.”

The NFSP is keen to promote GCA retailer membership to its members, as well as get involved with GCA events and initiatives such as Thinking of You Week, Festive Friday and the Spring Seasons PoS Toolkit.

Its magazine The Subpostmaster, which is sent to all its members, has already promoted Thinking of You Week and the Spring Seasons Toolkit and Sharon says “there’s plenty of scope to promote more GCA initiatives and retailer membership there.”

“It was great to have the opportunity to promote the GCA and our growing membership, especially on the retail front,” says Sharon of the meeting.
